February 19-21, 2018, Montpellier, FRANCE

Organizing Committee:

Andrey Kajava (Montpellier, FRANCE), Silvio Tosatto (Padova, Italy)

Venue :

At the campus of CNRS, 1919 route de Mende, Montpellier, FRANCE

Goal

Proteins containing repetitive sequences are abundant in proteomes and related to major health threats of the modern society. However, at present, structural and functional annotations of these regions in proteomes are unsatisfactory and need to be improved. Therefore, the main objective of this workshop will be to discuss current problems of the repeat annotation and to develop a join collaboration that will allow improving this annotation. In particular, a construction of the library of HMMs/profiles of protein tandem repeat motifs will be discussed. This workshop will bring together researchers who already developed their own HMMs/profiles of the repeat motifs as well as experts willing to take part in the common project. The best format of the collaboration that would maximally motivate all participant will be discussed.  We expect to establish common standards and protocols, to enlarge the set of the repeat HMM/profiles. Distribution of the library, web-interfaces and relationship with the main curated databases such as InterPro will be also in the scope of this meeting.
